McFarland RED Strategy Session Follow Up: 6/3/2010

Blogs from business

I am pleased to report we had a very successful RED Strategy Session with  with Keith McFarland last week.  The team in Indianapolis worked very long hours and we covered a lot of ground to develop a purpose, business model and go forward plan.  Mark and I fully support the strategy developed by the team.  This email will convey some of the high level messages coming out of the meeting.  You will have an opportunity to learn about the details and ask questions in upcoming smaller group sessions.

At the highest level we defined our purpose as:

Leverage our position with Global 2000 CFOs and CIOs to provide technology-enabled business solutions for increasing sales and reducing costs for revenue responsible executives in the middle market.”

We spent many hours on our business and honed in on where we should focus the 20% of our efforts that produce 80% of the results.  We ended up with the model below which essentially has our existing global 2000 practices focusing on growing their segments while contributing to EMM (Enterprise Marketing Management) Mid-Market opportunities.   This model will be discussed in more detail during the coming months.  One key point I want to make is that this definition around our approach to the market will NOT result in near-term organizational changes.   We will leave our existing structure in place for the remainder of 2010.

The next phase of the process is to identify the top initiatives for each one of the boxes in the chart, define the tasks associated with executing on those tasks and leveraging a collaborative SharePoint site supplied by Keith to manage the task execution.  I want to emphasize that The RED process is not a one time event,  it is something we as a company are committed to (and have engaged Keith to support) and it involves 90 day planning/execution cycles.

Going forward, everyone in the company will be associated with a RED communications team.  You will receive the details around this no later than Monday. The goal of the RED communication teams is to:

    • Provide a detailed summary of the sessions
    • Respond to any questions
    • Provide ongoing two way communication around the 90-day RED cycles

We will also hold a Crown Town hall to discuss the go forward strategy in more detail with the Company.

I look forward to executing on the strategy we have developed!

Richard
